VitaStim SRB is widely used in collection systems and force mains to stop the generation of dangerous and corrosive hydrogen sulfide gas. VitaStim SRB contains micronutrients plus sulfide-reducing bacteria. It comes in 1# water soluble bags and is added based on sulfide levels and flow rates.
This product is often used in combination with our De-Sulph-A-Nator for high sulfide levels.

The following customer has a 1 mile force main which flows 250,000 to 300,000 gallons per day. The force main is adjacent to a busy intersection and pedestrians were complaining of rotten egg odors when walking by.
The force main flows into this manhole where you can see the sulfide corrosion on the cement walls and iron stairs. Prior to using VitaStim SRB the H2S levels averaged 300 ppm. Now they feed 2-3 # per week of VitaStim SRB and it has dramatically lower hydrogen sulfide levels. Pedistrians and drivers by no longer complain.
The customer, Dan, says, "It works and it's simple; just toss in a bag a few times per week." In addition, since they have been treating the H2S, their wastewater plant is settling better and producing less sludge.
